I eat like a teenaged football player in full on growth spurt mode! My foster family gave me a puzzle bowl to help slow me down a little bit! Shoes and cushions are safe on my watch, but I may have been caught testing my teeth on the corner of the end table…my foster mom said "no sir, leave it" and I immediately stopped! (I really just want to please everyone!). I walk well on a leash, and once you get me in the car, I love to go for rides! I'm not a barker by any means, but I'm still getting comfortable. I have done well in a room with a baby gate, and we aren't giving up on the crate, but it's a work in progress! So far I have mastered "sit"and "shake", and I'm left pawed…just in case you were wondering! I'm gradually working on being more comfortable in my crate, but if my humans fasten the latch, I'm embarrassed to admit that I still whimper and whine a little bit and struggle to get out. So you probably shouldn't trust me with a cat…just saying! My foster family would love to see me go to a home with a fenced in yard because I love running and chasing the critters in the yard and chasing balls. She says that no squirrel is left un-chased on my watch! Birds and chipmunks are fair game also. I just like to jump and hug however I'm getting the clue that I need to curb my enthusiasm! She thinks that because of this, younger children would not be a good fit for me as I could potentially overwhelm and inadvertently frighten them. My foster family says that I am a healthy, athletic guy! I love all humans that I've come in contact with, especially the teenaged boy that lives with me and helps to feed me and gives me lots of exercise, treats and affection! My foster family is working on the "off" command because I do tend to get excited and jump up to greet people. Hello y'all, my name is Copper! I somehow ended up in the shelter and the staff immediately recognized my intelligence, affectionate nature and stunning good looks! I waited out my stray hold, because surely I had to be someones pet, and the nice folks at ABR rescued me from there!
